Newfoundland and Labrador Post-Secondary Resources

Employment Centres can be found across the province to assist job seekers in finding employment. These centres also offer a range of counselling services to help prepare for your entry into the labour market. 

 

The goal of the NL Workforce Innovation Centre is to positively impact employability, entrepreneurship, and attachment to the workforce In Newfoundland and Labrador. This site offers information on research, funding and other resources that can support aspiring entrepreneurs as well as being a valuable resource in planning for your entry into the labour market. 

 

Post-secondary institutions in Newfoundland and Labrador offer a range of supports for students to help them be successful in their programs of study and to prepare for entry into the labour market. It is never too early to access the services available to you; whether you are in first year or your final year of studies, counsellors at career advising offices (name may differ based on institution) can assist you in exploring opportunities and guide you through the career planning process. 

  • College of the North Atlantic - the document linked offers an overview of career services available for students at CNA. Specific topics addressed in this document include counselling services, student employment and cooperative education, alumni and advancement services, skill development opportunities, diversity and accessibility services, funding sources, workplace transition and other general questions often asked about CNA.
  • Memorial University (MUN) - the document linked offers an overview of career services available for students at MUN. This includes a list of specific services students can access, a comprehensive description of skills and competencies and information on accessing diversity services. 
  • Newfoundland and Labrador has over 20 provincially regulated Private Training Institutions (PTIs) which offer over 250 certificate and diploma programs in areas such as industrial trades, applied arts, health and sciences, business studies, information technology, and natural resources. Several PTIs offer their own employment and career services.
